Corruption is getting worse. Transparency International has asked 114,000 people in 107 countries. 1 in 4 say that they have paid bribes during the last year when interacting with public institutions and services.

In 2000, the United Nations boldly set up the target of reducing extreme poverty by 50% from 1990 to 2015. Remarkably, the target was met already in 2010. Hundreds of millions have now been lifted out of poverty and into a more worthy life.
